About/Background

“RSP” (Richard Preske) currently lives in Maryville, TN and is pursuing his music career as a solo act. I am currently looking for a great publisher to help me take my career to the next level.  He is currently teaching online guitar lessons at https://rspguitarlessons.com.  However, RSP began his musical career with close friend, Michael Scarlett and formed their own band called “Aspiration”. Here is a little musical history on RSP:

“Aspiration” is Richard Preske (singer, songwriter, guitarist), Michael Scarlett (songwriter, guitarist, backup singer) and guest appearances by Kim Jurek (singer). The group originated in college when Mike and Rich met in 1990. A unique musical connection existed between the two guitarists right from the start. “Together Forever”, a pop ballad, was their first attempt at songwriting. Mike and Rich’s love for music, support from friends and family and a favorable acceptance from the local college community convinced the duo to pursue more songwriting ventures.

In 1995, a rock song written by Rich called “One More Chance” was recorded at Honeybear Studios, in Erie, PA. Mike added a cool lead part and played bass, while Rich decided to sing and play rhythm guitar. Recording was so exciting, and, at this point, the duo decided to make plans for recording an entire album.

“Aspiration’s” first CD, Resonance, was completed in late 1996. The CD contains a total of 9 songs consisting of various styles of music, including pop ballads, rock, dance/euro-techno, instrumental and inspirational. In general, the music combines Mike and Rich’s acoustical/electric guitar talents and showcases their ability to write different types of music. In addition, Rich brings an emotional connection between him and the listener through his singing.

In the spring of 1997, the duo performed for the first time at Barnes and Nobles bookstore in Erie, PA. An acoustic set was used and songs from their CD Resonance, along with a few cover tunes, were played. Their love for performing continued to grow and the duo began to play around the local cafés.

Mike and Rich met Kim Jurek in the summer of 1997. A powerful, yet sensitive female singer, Kim added the right touch to Aspiration’s acoustic sound. The former duo, now a trio, continued to play in various bars and cafés throughout Erie, PA. The band’s popularity continued to grow and recently played at big name local bar, Goofies. In addition, “Aspiration” was the featured artist on the local radio station Rocket 101.

“Subtle Impact” is the new CD from RSP (formerly songwriter/guitarist of “Aspiration”).

“RSP” (Richard Preske) has recorded 12 more songs for the new CD titled “Subtle Impact”. The new CD is completely a solo act of Rich’s own material (except for “Trust in Your Heart” and “Am I Asking for Too Much”) and includes more instruments and intensified singing on each track.   Some of the songs and background on the style are explained below:

“Trust in Your Heart” and “Am I Asking for Too Much” were the first two completed songs for the new CD. “Trust in Your Heart” introduces a female lead singer to a well-crafted love song and “Am I Asking for Too Much” uses some unique guitar effects and moving lead vocals by Rich.

The title track, “Subtle Impact”, is an upbeat rock instrumental with three different guitar tracks, solid drum beat and straight forward bass line. The song will incorporate all of Rich’s developed techniques in guitar playing, arranging and songwriting flavored with pieces of improvisation.

“It’s Always Something” is a unique rock song with an attitude on how life’s little plans never seem to work out quite the way you think or expect.  “More Than A Kiss” is an emotional soft rock ballad with some interesting vocal harmonies.  “Sweet Danielle” is a song Rich dedicated to his wife and includes a soul sound beat and melody for the verses and rock sound for the chorus and bridge parts.  “My Inspiration” is a remix of the dance song from the “Resonance” album of Rich’s former group “Aspiration”.

“Carefree Symphony” is another rock song expressing Rich’s deep belief in how music and life should be enjoyed in a ‘carefree’ fashion and enjoyed together as one.  “Strumming Along” is another instrumental with a jazz background beat and clean guitar picking sounds created by Rich.
